We are pleased that you are interested in finding out more about our organization and the health services we provide in improving the quality of life within our community. Great Expectations Foundation, Inc. (GEF) was established as a non-profit organization in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1996, with a mission “to educate families, individuals and adolescents on prevention strategies through group facilitation, after school mentoring and case management services.”
GEF provides an array of community based, innovative and comprehensive health programs and services that address the needs of families. Specifically, GEF addresses issues related to teen pregnancy prevention, HIV/AIDS prevention and services for persons living with HIV/AIDS. Throughout the years, GEF has provided valuable services to thousands of individuals, and we have seen first hand the positive impact our health services have had on the community.
GEF has developed a comprehensive strategic plan. This plan serves as a blueprint to help coordinate its development activities related to ongoing support and expansion of current programs and the creation of new initiatives. Our strategic plan charges us to be recognized as a leader in community based strategies that addresses prevention of teen pregnancy and HIV/AIDS and other health disparities. With that in mind, GEF has a commitment to achieving excellence and efficiency in its operation and services.
GEF recognizes that each community is different and that the residents best know their community. It is critical that we continue to work within communities and with other health officials to develop strategies that respond to clinical, environmental, social and cultural factors that influence lifestyles.
You can support GEF by referring individuals, volunteering your time, skills and talents and by contributing financially.
Please join us in the fight against teen pregnancy and HIV/AIDS. Together, we can all say,
“Healthy Families Today….Strong Communities, Tomorrow”!
